Untitled Document

Submission Deadline - July 16, 2003

Music Beyond Performance: SoundImageSound

On Friday, September 12, the Conservatory Computer Studio for Music Composition (CCSMC) in combination with the Conservatory of Music, University of the Pacific, will present the second year of Music Beyond Performance. For 2003 this event will feature new works which in some manner combine multi-channel sound and visual images (film, video, dvd, projections, etc.). Works in all media will be considered. Preference will be given to concert works but sound/image installations are also possible. The audio portion of the work may be composed for two to eight channels of sound although preference will be given to work which exceeds normal stereo presentation. A component of live performance utilizing Max/MSP will be considered, but compositions may not require performance using acoustic instruments. Unusual or unique hardware or software must be provided by the composer.
Works should be submitted in a format that best represents both their sound and image components. Audio formats may include DA88, ADAT, 16 or 24-bit DAT, non-synchronized multiple cds, etc.. ProTools HD sessions or multiple AIFF files may be possible. Please inquire via email with questions about audio or image formats.

Composers wishing to have their works considered for performance must submit recordings and all other necessary materials by July 16, 2003 to:
