Gender and music technology: Organised Sound (Volume 8 no. 1)

Untitled Document

I wanted to draw your attention to the latest issue of Organised Sound (Volume 8 no. 1) which deals
with issues of gender and music technology. It contains articles from folks with a variety of backgrounds and
includes most of the experts in the field.
An important resource for a variety of courses I think!

Table of Contents:
Hannah Bosma - Bodies of evidence, singing cyborgs and other gender issues in electrovocal music
Georg Essl - On gender in new music interface technology
Elizabeth Hinkle-Turner - Women and music technology: pioneers, precedents, and issues in the United States
Jo Hutton - Daphne Oram: innovator, writer, and composer
Mary Simoni - Project Lovelace: unprecedented opportunities for music education
Theda Weber-Lucks - Electroacoustic voices in vocal performance art - a gender issue?
Anne Sivuoja-Gunaratnam - Desire and distance in Kaija Saariaho's 'Lonh'
Cindy Cox - Wounds like flowers opening: a discussion of 'Hysteria' for trombone and four-channel tape
Andra McCartney - In and out of the sound studio
Terre Thaemlitz - GLOBULE of NON-STANDARD: an attempted clarification of globular identity politics in
Japanese electronic 'sight-seeing music'
Taina Riikonen - Shaken or stirred - virtual reverberation spaces and transformative gender identities in
Kaija Saariaho's 'NoaNoa' (1992) for flute and electronics
Barry Truax - Homoeroticism and electroacoustic music: absence and personal voice
