The 2006 Colourscape Music Festival - Clapham Common, London, UK

* Untitled Document

Saturday, 16 September - 1pm to 5pm

Sounds in Between - a programme of new British microtonal music curated by Donald Bousted

Improvised, partially improvised and notated music for new, old or adapted instruments with real-time electronic manipulation, exploring new intervals and tuning systems with a variety of stylistic backgrounds. Includes works by Paul Archbold; Cornelius Cardew; Lawrence Casserley; Simon Desorgher; Michael Finnissy; Christopher Fox; Paul Newland; Tim Parkinson; Michael Parsons and Jonathan Powell with improvisations by Christopher Redgate.

Sunday, 17 September - 1pm to 5pm

Improvisers of Cologne - In July this year Colourscape visited Cologne during the World Cup Festival. British and Cologne musicians collaborated on performances in Colourscape. This exchange continues with the visit of Improvisers of Cologne - Tiziana Bertoncini, violin; Achim Tang, bass; Bettina Wenzel, voice; Thomas Lehn, analogue synthesiser; Hans W Koch, computer processing.

Sounds Positive play tribute to composer John Lambert, who would have been 80 this year, in a programme of his later music and music by composers who studied under his inspirational teaching.

Saturday, 23 September - 1pm to 5pm

Violinist Phillip Wachsmann has put together an ensemble specifically for Colourscape, including the Guastella/Lash Duo, percussionist Martin Blume and live computer processing by Michael Bunce and Lawrence Casserley. The music is deeply involved with atmosphere, space, feeling and analogies for colour and the senses.

Sunday, 24 September - 1pm to 5pm

Steven Montague has been commissioned, through our new Rawsthorn Award, to make a piece especially for Colourscape.

This afternoon's three performances are excursions into a unique micro-world teeming with colourful sights, sounds and spaces, with a large cast of costumed musicians, dancers and actors caught in a Time Bubble, some seen, some unseen.

Admission: Adult, £6.50; Child/Concession, £3.50; Family Ticket, £17.00 - Each ticket allows admission for one hour - Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Colourscape will be installed on Clapham Common, off Rookery Road, SW4 near the Long Pond boating lake.

The 2006 Colourscape Music Festival is presented by Eye Music Trust (formerly Nettlfold Festival Trust) with funding from Arts Council England, PRS Foundation, Hinrichsen Foundation, Sir Walter St John Charity, Walcot Educational Foundation, London Borough of Lambeth and EU ERDF grants.
